Window tint
Window tint
I have a 2002 Glacial Pearl Maxima. I want to get the windows tinted and just wanted to know what shades of tint some of the readers have and what they can recommend. I'm limited to 35% tint in my state.
Thanks
Thanks
I'm a patient member of the org, and now EVEN I am becoming tired of this thread! Do a search, or just look at people's sigs or something!
I have 5% tint in my rear windows and 15% tint in my front windows, black llumar tint.

go with the simple everyday smoke tint 35% all the way around and get them to tint your Sunroof as well. If you want to keep your car legal but fool the cops get your back window tinted darker. Their tint readers can't read the back window because it doesn't roll down of course...
that wont work, i have 5% int he back and 35% in the front...Looks like 50 in the front and 35 now, this tint sucks ballz.
I got ticketed for the tint...No tint is allowed whatsoever..
At least in Cali, the cops are F*CKING D*CKHEADS

I just got 20% all the way around a few days ago...my tint place (they've done maybe 15 cars for me and do great work) has several different brands, but they recommended Llumar as best/darkest, so that's what I got. I think it looks great - I'm very pleased.
BTW, we can go as dark as we want on the "back three", and 35 on the front doors, so I guess we've got it pretty good but we all still wanna go darker (of course
). There are only a *few* state patrol cars that have tint meters - none of the local municipalities have them. I have never had a problem.

actually, depending on what % tint you get, you may want to leave the sun roof clear...
i know with me, since i have limo on the fronts, having the sun roof untinted is a big help...if i roll up next to a cop, all i do is open the sun roof and it lets in sh-tloads of light making the tint look much lighter than it actually is...
i know its saved me a few times, if you go any darker than 35% i would recommend not tinting the sunroof...

no tint allowed on the front in my state so I got 50% (and if I get a ticket I'll deal with it and not blame the cops because I BROKE THE LAW
), 35% rear and 15% on the sunroof. But bose2000gle might be onto something... might want to consider that as well.
I have 35% all around. Sterling mist with frost leather.. formula 1 premier tint(metal film).
Hard to find and more expensive but worth it.. life time warranty

Why would you need to tint the sunroof? You have a freakin panel that slides and blocks ALL light.

enjoy
Sunroof
All other manufacturers make factory tinted sunroofs including BMW.
I tinted mine the same as windows 35%. It does let all the sun in, and I think it probably did save me from cops, but I'd do it 20% if I had to do it over again.

I have 20% the side windows 5% on the rear window of the I30t and 20% all the way around on the Altima. Oh, I didn't have the sunroof tinted since i thought it defeated the purpose of having a SUNroof. Never even heard of any problems with the police regarding tint in MD. The guy who tinted my windows had what looked like 15% on his front windshield! The only time you have to worry about tint here is when it comes time to get your car inspected. As for what will look good on the glacier pearl, the darker the better and definitely get the 5% in the back it makes the tint look darker all around.
