UPD install (power steering pump question)

I'm trying to install the UPD Unorthodox into my 2kMax but getting to those bolts that loosen the power steering pump is damn near impossible, and forget about trying to loosen them. Has anyone done this to give any advise? I needed to lower the pump to install the new Gates belts and to make sure the belt is tensioned tight. Thanks in advance.

Yeah I tried to do this myself and I ended up having to go to the dealer
Apparently the car has to be level for it to come off. Of course I am assuming you loosened up the bolt on the inside

I was afraid I was going to have to do that. I did loosen the inner bolt. That was not too bad. I can believe that 1 little bolt is causing me so much trouble. I hope I can get the old belt back on and drive the car to the dealership. Wish me luck.

just stick a small wrench up to get the bolt holding the tension bolt in place. once you get the first bolt (which faces the side of the car) loosened, you can get a socket wrench on an extension up to loosen the tensioner bolt. loosen it all the way (make sure you turn it the right way too!) and the belt will be loose enough to come off. it doesnt get really loose, just enough to wedge off the pulley. easiest way to get the new one on is to put the belt over the power steering pulley and the UDP, then slide the UDP into place. Don't put the belt on the UDP first, then try to wedge it onto the power steering pulley, you wont be able to. cant get enough hand up there, its too tight.

Got the UDP on

I finally loosened the tension bolt on the steering pump. Holy Sh** that was tough. I need really small hand to wedge my hand in there. I had to go from the top of the engine and move the power steering hose out of the way to make some room. Then I had to slooowwwlly inch the bolt loose. From there the adjustment bolt was only slightly easier from the bottom of the engine. The power steering pump doesn't move that far and the belts that I ordered from stillen are way too short. I had to use the old belt that I took off. I finally hooked all the belts back on and tightened them up. I think I'm gonna have the belt changed by a professional. I don't wanna do that again. Its worth the $50 bucks for installation.

Yeah, It's not worth the agro lol
Btw, I'm using my stock power steering belt, although I had a new one put in when the pulley was added.

I used the Stillen belts and, although short, they did fit. The PS pump is not simple to loosen, but not too hard. An offset box-end wrench is suggested. The hardest part by far (if you have an auto) is to lock the flywheel. I actually did the install by myself and locked the flywheel by removing the starter. I would HIGHLY recommend 2 people to do it, you'll cuss a lot less.
