horsepower and paint chip LAWSUIT
Haven't heard anything about a hp lawsuit but you can sign up at www.maximapaint.com for the paint. Some guys on this board started that site.
yes there is a HP lawsuit. i started it a while back and the lawyers have it now. They bought an engine and are supposed to be dynoing it on an absolute engine dyno to have the actual no speculations number from the engine, and when it comes back at 240hp they will start making some moves to make nissan pay for deceiving us.

a GTBIGUP don't worry about it. Didn't someone ever tell you if you have nothing nice to say don't say it at all. If you don't like the topic don't read it or move on. Obviously it isn't that stupid of an idea or laywers would be involved, buying engines to dyno and stuff. Laywers don't take cases and invest money in something they don't think they can win. DO YOU WORK FOR FREE?
Why do people on this forum bash each other. I've been a member to several forums on cars (owned several different cars). The only bashing on the other forums is people with stupid questions they can search for, or stupid topics.
Like: What music do you listen to when you drive your Maxima (who cares)
You guys need to lighten up and show some respect for each other. This is a Maxima forum. Not a talk smack forum. I'm sure you can find one of those @ www.google.com search.

A. extremely board and probably suck, or
B. a huge firm with deep pockets and the ability to convince Nissan to settle.
If it's A, this goes nowhere and it's a waste of time.
If it's B, Nissan settles, the lawyers get millions, and you get a check for about $1.79, and Nissan loses millions that could've gone into product development. Where is the upside here?

very well said, I have thought this whole lawsuit thing is such a huge JOKE! Hey Steve you mean after all the talk of a G35 coupe you didnt get the thing???
ya i ended up not getting it, the dealership told me i was all set with getting financed for the term i wanted and a good rate but then the car came in and they were like oh by the way, you didn't get approved for the term you wanted and your rate is 11.9%. my day job is consumer lending so i know my credit score ect... i've never made a late payment in my life and i was like that's not acceptable, i couldn't get a co-signer and even to lease it they wanted an 11% lease and they wouldn't move from MSRP after i was supposed to get a few bucks off. i just didnt' feel good about the deal at all and i walked out on it, decided i should get something less expensive anyway and modify the **** out of it like the 300ZX TT. i've got big plans for this beast.
and the lawyers are a LARGE well respected firm from the Philly area. They wouldn't be doing all this if there wasn't a chance they could win and a good chance. They've spoken with automotive engineers and already bought the engine. they should be dynoing it soon.

Very Well said man....i would honestly stop waisting my time on this shiet man....
I for one hope it goes well. You wouldn't believe how many people by some cars instead of other due to HP difference. I don't know why people are dumping on you. If they feel is a waste of time, then don't bother with it. But why the negative comments?
But I bet their tune would change if you did win and they could somehow benefit from it.
good luck

same thing with these credit card law suits that I get in the mail This bank did this and that and at the end they say u will get a maximum of like 2 bucks.
SO why make someone rich(LAWYERS) And at the end, the consumer will suffer cause nissan will try to cut corners substitute the 2 mill they lost.
Man, I like how we have all these self-proclaimed experts telling us whether this suit is legit or not. Honestly, who cares what YOU think? Unless you're intimate with the legal profession or with how the law regarding advertising HP numbers, don't say how this or that doesn't float.
This is the problem--everyone *****es and moans about how their dyno numbers aren't up to snuff, yet don't want to do anything about it. We have one guy, Steve, who decided to do something about it on OUR behalf for FREE. There's no loss for us here. Even if all we get is a buck fifty in the mail, at least Nissan will start selling exactly what they advertise.
Why don't all the haters just hold your thoughts and wait until this thing comes to some sort of a resolution. Before you flame, I personally have no clue what's going to come of it. If the engine dynos lower than 255, then there may be some repercussions for Nissan. If it doesn't, well none of us lost anything, so who cares, right? right!

The paint chips I can see, they're there, if I can recover money for a future repaint GREAT
The HP I don't know
If this is another frivilious lawsuit (ie there is no real proof)there is something lost. Nissan loses money on this, which is passed on to the consumers. All lawsuits cost money to someone. They're not free to the public.

Second, my wife is an attorney so I will see what she thinks about all this...
And lastly, who cares if we only get $2 bucks in the class action...the point is that there will be no doubt that Nissan is the fastest freakin' 4 door sedan around.
Personally, I don't really care cuz to the layman (me), what's the difference between 255hp and 245hp??? That **** is still fast for just driving around the city...

First off, like most large corporations, I'm sure Nissan has a liability insurance policy...and a HUGE policy at that. All automakers have to have it in case of huge lawsuits i.e. Ford and Bridgestone about faulty tires, etc. So the only damage to Nissan is their quarterly premium increases a few thousand...which is chump change in the world of giant companies.

Im a lawyer...
Ummm actually a lot of HUGE companies are self insured or have large SIRs. And this is not a liability issue. The suit has some merit and I would not deem it frivolous. And yes a lot of times class action suits are windfalls for attys and don;t help the class members much. There is legislation pending now in both the House and Senate to recify this. We'll see if it passes-tel your Democrats to support this. Problem is Democrats are in bed with the trial lawyers and will try to set up road blocks. Write your congressman if you want reform.

I'm sure Nissan has a liability insurance policy...and a HUGE policy at that.
