GAB science? Share with us all

I've read much about the GAB lately and talked with a few aero friends and we couldn't determine why it would be more effective without actually flowbenching it etc. Anyway, does anyone have any actual scientific theories/evidence as to why this would be more effective than other intake types? Just curious is all

I dont know how it works, but just about every person I've talked to that has this intake, including me, loves it. We have a 2k2 6 speed here that has trapped over 102 with just the GAB and a cat-back. My times dropped and trap went up as well.

It works but its the most ghetto of all intakes, the funniest part of all is if some1 asks you what you got under the hood, you can show them with confidence that it looks totally stock You could even throw in a nitrous nozzle on the bottom side of the intake right be4 the the TB and no1 would ever see it

So no one has any science to back this up? I just can't imagine how it works better than the other options, but I don't think I'll cut my air box up unless I can figure out why it works

science shmience. it always happens this way. someone finds a cheap and effective way to get a few more ponies, and some lab dork has to have "scientific" info to back it up.

ok, don't cut open your airbox. what's your other option? leave it stock? ok, boring, but ok. or you can intall an expensive MAF blowing intake, for lesser gain.

Without proof, 1/4 times, dyno gains, it's just smoke up our backsides. Just because it "feels" stronger, that doesn't mean a thing. Sorry I have the need to be a "lab dork" and understand the process that adds to these supposed extra ponies.

This is an empirical world, sorry I can't just believe Jesus gave me more power, there has to be a reason that makes sense.

Real world, the GAB dropped my ¼ time by 2 tenths over the Frankencar on a hotter evening.

i believe people have posted dyno gains, and Y2KSESteve is trapping at 102 w/ GAB and cat-back. That's proof enough for me.

A member in Phoenix with an 02 6 speed with GAB and cat-back trapped over 102, I trap at about 92-93, which is still pretty decent for an NA auto.

More air!!!

After reading all the info on intakes I tried a couple of styles if you will(poor mans approach) and here are my findings. When I first got the car I installed a JWT Pop charger and all worked well. Second was a home depot style Franken intake. 3" tube extended out to battery area attached to maf with JWT filter at the end; a hybrid. At first I got all excited over the noise and top end performance. Then the heat came and the bottom end fell out completely. The car became very sluggish down low. I put back the JWT intake and I tried the ghetto style air hose from the bottom of the car set up. 3" flex tube from Depot, 1, 4" to 3" reducer I placed at the bottom after I cut out a small opening in the bottom shroud and connected that tube to the air intake located above the radiator and placed another hose from that outlet near the JWT filter element and I now have low and top end power like never before. I feel the reason for that is there is plenty of air for the engine to breathe properly. With the other set up the engine was starved for air. It could only draw from what was in that 3"x9" length tube. With the ghetto set up there is more air for the engine to draw from; lots of air within the box and piping and from underneath and around the engine. When you stomp on the car it just sucks all this air in. That is why you here this huge roar with Franken and others. The engine is hungry for air. The car runs great now. There are plenty of ways to experiment with this car. Every day you learn more and more from everyone on this board.
