Question for 2000-2001 owners with y pipes

Are they worth it???? Stillen's is about 350 and then money for shipping and money for install. IS the power difference that noticeable that you would do it all over again if you had to. Also i know budget's is about 150. Is there any real difference, does anyone recommend anything.

PS winters where I live tend to be snowy and cold (Boston), is this a factor?

thank you

The Y-pipe is worth it. It definitely gives a HP gain and gives the exhaust a nice tone, especially at WOT.

I did alot of research on this bolt on and ended up buying the Budget pipe. Ran into a few problems with which set-up I had, but it was well worth it. I enjoy the sound and the performance.

At first I thought since I purchased my car in Michigan, that it was a Federal spec car. Come to find out, it was a Caly spec car. So I kept swapping pipes with them. Then I spoke with someone that had the right pipe, but it didn't fit their car anyway. So, I decided to keep the Fed spec pipe and I completely had to customize it to get it to fit my car. What a pain! I was without the car for 5 days until it was finished. Partly my fault for not knowing what car and partly there's for not being able to match up the pipe to the exhaust. I guess that after the Gen 4's they shipped whatever spec car anywhere in the US. I should have just got underneath the car and did my homework. After all is said and done, it was worth it. It cost me a bit more from a time constraint, but that's o.k.

I have the Cattman SS y pipe...great sound (with stock piping and muffler and resonator removed), plus the power gains are definately noticeable. Well worth the money....

A few questions, if y'all would kindly answer

-Where are y'all located (up north, near an ocean)? leads to next question...
-Any problems with rust?
-Did you wrap the y-pipe before you put it on?
-How long have you had the pipe on (months/distance).....any problems?

Thanks.

Here's my 2 cents. First I would get a Cattman y-pipe cause it's stainless steel and I think is the best one out there. Second Wrap it up with xhaust wrap so you don't get that bees in the can sound.

I checked Cattman's pipe and it's T-304 stainless steel, same as the Budget pipe. Any other differences.

No. Just make sure you put anti-seize on it when you put it back on. The real problem is usually getting the cat unbolted. For that you need to use your Legs - not your arms.
