how to remove tint?

Sorry this doesnt really have much to do with 5th gens..I have one so i post here.

Got a correctable violation for the tint and I need to know how to remove it or if I have to go to a tint shop to do it?

The best way is to use a heat gun. Heat the outside of the glass and slowly, pull the tint back, it will pull up all the adhesive. No need to do anything after that. Very clean.

wish i had known about the heat trick... pulled off tint several times then had to use bug and tar remover with a razor to get the glue off. not fun at all

oh man, taking off the tint is harder than i thought
I took off the drivers side window and it left glue EVERYWHERE on the glass. No way im using razors..

So i did the next best thing, took some steel wool sponges and some 409 glass and cleaner, and to my amazment, comes RIGHT off!

Take it to the shop where you got your tints from... they took mine off in 15 minutes and didn't charge me anything... probably because I told them that I would be back to get my tints on again after getting my ticket thrown out.

and you didnt scratch the glass with the steel wool???

not one scratch on the glass, the steel wool is actually soft, doesnt seem like it could scratch.

I pulled my tint off on the spot to avoid two tickets but still got one. My tint pulled off really easy but I guess it was due to the heat. Both windows and windshield came off in one piece with not much residue. Cops SUCK..

hi killer2002se, did you HABR the glass before removing the tint or did you YABR it? i would like to know since i need to do the same thing. btw, staters working great. fool sounds like a turbo when i turn it on, bye nose.
