Curb weight = dry weight?

just surfin the net and came across shipping weight vs. curb weight for a lexus. the shipping was nearly 100 lbs less... why is that? when we say that a 2k2 GLE weighs 3289 lbs, is that the dry weight? 20 minutes ago i thought i knew, but then i had to go and do research. stupid me.
