Front and Rear motor mounts/ECM

Anyone with experience with blown front and rear motor mounts...and that shorted out the ECM....Repair shop/Dealer is telling me they/ve 'never' experienced before.

What's the story on free replacement? Any suggestions?

Shorted the ECM? That's hard to believe, but I'm assuming you have an automatic since it only has two electric fluid filled motor mounts. They break pretty easy if you beat on them, but I'd find it hard to believe they shorted the ECM.

So they are trying to stick you with replacing the ECM?

That Sounds a little odd! Shorting the ECM? First of all how many miles do u have on your your car? Is it still under warranty? What did they say is wrong with ECM other than its shorted out?

Yes, it's an automatic...Initially, the car froze, literally froze - very dangerous situation; Dealer initially thought to be an ECM replacement. When the ECM was put in, it allegedly blew the front/rear motor mounts. Then the motor mounts were replaced and a new ECM was put in...Yeah, it's strange - according to dealer, they have never seen the motor mounts go.
I'm looking for Nissan to foot the bill - still working it. Car is over waranty miles of course, but under the 80K that they'll support for problems related to ECM (under the emissions warranty). Problem is they're saying motor mounts caused ECM to go so they won't cover...Any help here - any added pressure to put on Nissan...thanks

well... if the mounts were blown electrically and somehow shorted their input terminals to ground, you could possibly blow the ECU. The ECU outputs either a low voltage (~1.0V) or high voltage (battery volts) to the motor mounts. If the mounts are blown electrically and the motor mount terminal is now shorted to ground, you could possibly have +12 volts shorted to ground being driven from the ECU. That may be enough to blow the driver on the ECU pin or some other power transistors internal to the ECU. Sounds odd, but not out of the question
