varying performance

I have a 2002 AT SE and have been noticing that I get good throttle response for a while and then at times I don't. This happens at anytime cold, hot weather If I have been driving a while or just cranking up the car and going.

I have noticed though that when the throttle is touchy (swifter acceleration) my miles per gallon dimenishes....

Can anyone tell me what this situation may be or is anyone experiencing the same thing ?

The dealership of course can't see a problem

Thanks in advance!!!!

check the TSB for lack of power/hesitation. been a lot of posts on this.
like your status says: I need to read the FAQ and IMPORTANT threads before posting a question

oh yeah I forgot to mention that I did have the tsb done for replacing MAF, and yes I have read the many confusing treads on hesitations/lack of power but have ciphored little or nothing from them. my car does this occasionally. it has it's burst of power for a short time and then is not noticeable.

I've experienced the same response on my car also and had the TSB done. Do you have an aftermarket intake? I have a JWT Pop charger on my car and I tried a hybrid frankenstyle intake; just made a long 3" tube then attached the JWT to the end of it. At first the high end and growl was awesome then when the heat came the bottom end feel out. I had erratic acceleration down low then the car would kick in(burst of power) at higher rpm's. Anyway took this off recently and piped in 3" air line from bottom of car to air intake on top of radiator and from that piece ran another to the base of the filter and my response has improved tremendously. The car needs lots of air and the more you give it the more responsive the car becomes; down low and up high.

Do any of you guys have a bypass valve (AEM) on your intake? If so you may want to try taking it off and see if the problem continues. Had that happen with my 02 se 6-sp.Now the bypass valve will only go on if flooding is expected.
