Dimly lit SES light

Hello, Im new here...and alll I can say is wow! Tons of info.

I have a dimly lit SES light on my 02 SE that stays on all the time...not visible during the day. Since it can only be seen when dark, whats the best way to get the dealer to acknowledge the problem since they wont do anything since they cant see it.

Start by seeing if you've set any codes. Autozone should do it for free...then post any findings.

Oh, I ran it by the dealer and a tech plugged the machine in...no codes stored.

If you take a look at threads a while back, there have been several other people with the same problem. I think it involves replacing the instrument cluster.

I had the same problem on my 2002 SE. I brought it to the dealer and told the service writer what was happening and he said that he had several other people with the same problem. He brought my car into the service bay then turned the lights down so he could see it light up. Sure enough, it was dimly lit. He then ordered a whole new gauge cluster, and about a week later I brought the car in and they fixed it in about an hour. They did a good job on it too which is surprising after hearing about all the service horror stories.
