potenza problems???

Here are some pictures of what I found on my 37K Potenza's. The car is a 2001 SE this are the original tires. DO you guys think this cracks are because of potholes..etc... or just defective tires. I found the problem on 2 tires.

going to replace them ASAP with some Yokohama ES100...I know there is alot of stories about Potenzas blowing out. Do you think this a problem with this tires they crack and blow out???? Kinda like the Ford Explorer and Firestone tires???

That doesn't look good. I'm not sure about these tires blowing out but I'm sure that they blow. Do a search for "Potenzas" or "Craptenzas" and you'll see that everyone hates them.

Re: potenza problems???

Wow that's harsh, did they blow out while you were driving? I got about 55K on my front and 62K on my rear potenzas/rotated once (and the rears are now spare tires, they are in poor condition but look alot better than those...

Were both those tires on the same side of the car?

Enjoy the new rubbers!

Potenzas dont blow, they just have severe traction issues in wet conditions.. Your tires appear to have been pinched by a curb. Thats not safe at all. There is a belt between the crack and the inside, thats why its not leaking now... but I wouldnt trust that at highway speeds, especially in the summer.

If you were reffering to my above statement, I meant blow as in they suck

those look like cracks from hitting the curb. tires dont just crack like that. never had those problems with my potenzas. only crappy traction in the rain.

Could be dryrot or UV induced cracking. Chuck those POS's and get better tires.
