I think the older TL looked way better. This one looks too much like a TSX (I know it should, family resemblance and all.) What's all the rave about the interior? Also, let's see what the specs are for drivetrain, engine, etc. Rumour had it that they were putting a 300 hp motor in the TL. I would really love to see how Acura manages to tame the TQ steer with that kind of power-plant pushing through the front wheels.

I kinda like the new TL... It takes a while for new looks to grow on people.. I just figure that since thats the way things are gonna be, you might as well go along with it..

I'm not feeling the new 04 TL, I would still take TSX over TL even though it might have less HP.

Pros:
- Interior looks pretty nice, w/ that short shifter look on Automatic

Cons:

-Rear looks ugly on 04, previous TL looks way better.
-I don't feel the exterior one bit.

Overall, it will probably be a pretty good selling sport sedan.

I still love my car over the new TL.

i own a TL, and i think its beautiful the way it is.. the car is pretty much perfect... within a month i'll probably buy a 3.2cl-s before its gone from the dealerships. as for the 04, in my opinion, i love the front but the back is "ehh" just like the tsx.

That is a tough call..I really like the new Max..but I do like the pics of the tls that I have seen so far.

Plenty of room is very important to me with 2 kids..so the Acura has big shoes to fill.

As far as value...I sure would prefer the resale value I am left with after a few years in the Acura...Not to mention fantastic service and not have to deal with the DOLTS in Nissan service

While not completely thrilled with the Acura styling this time around...I know I don't hate it like I do with the bloated potato look that the Maxima has become.

As with the Volvo thread I posted over the past few days...I fear that the Acura will turn out feeling too cramped (since it appears to have lost size compared to the 2003). Guess time and test drives will tell. As of now my candidate list for replacing the Max (in the next year or so) includes:

2004 TL
Dodge Magnum - depending on how close it compares to the concept
G35 sedan

I heard that even though the outside looks small, the inside isnt smaller, but a tad bit more larger.... Maybe better ergonomics.

Also, there are too many rumors for this car.. like 300 Hp, maybe 280HP... or even 4wd... with the rear being electric.... I like it, and even though it may look like the tsx, its like the new maxima looking kinda like the altima.... I would really like to see stats... as the new maxima has gotten slower, this new tl is 500 pounds lighter than the 2002-03 and has more hp.... maybe its a sub 6 second car... The tranny will definatly be fixed... honda is not an american car company, if there is something wrong they will fix it... besides, the tanny only affected something like 3% of the american hondas/acuras.
Price wise, I heard it might or might not go up.... as for interior, its not too bad, i like it.

I wouldn't own a 6th gen PERIOD, so I'd choose the TL.

However, I'd choose the G35 sedan over the TL and neither compare to the G35 coupe.

The '04 TL looks nicer that the 6th Gen Max in my opinion. Has a wedge look to it rather that the bloated look of the '04 Max. I would still prefer my '03 Max or G35 over the above mentioned cars because the '03 Max and G35 are made in Japan with better quality control.

Quality control...hmmm...does that include substandard paint application?

I think the 04 TL looks freakin nice, and it's nice to see it'll be available with a 6 speed in the sedan. They'll probably give it a hp bump, but I'd be very surprised if it was 300hp. I would guesstimate 260hp for the base, and 280hp if the TL Type-S comes out. They can't have their entry level sedan having more hp than their "supercar" can they?

Not surprising. Go to any forum and even infer a criticism of the primary vehicle there and see what happens.

As proof, try being negative about a 5th Gen here and look out!

It all has to do with insecurity. You 5th gens know you can hang with, beat by a little, or lose by a little to the TLS (auto vs auto) depending on racing conditions. Everyone knows that the 6th gen Maximas are slower than both of these cars. It's no wonder that nearly every 6th gen I have seen on the road has tried to race me and gotten burned very, very badly.

P.S. Do you guys know if the 04 Max auto uses the same transmission as the 5th gen auto? It seems like they lose a lot of ground when running out one gear and shifting to the next. Almost like there's a huge lag or something.

It has the TSX front end, a 3 series Bimmers side structure and the Grand Prix's azzz!- I think they went small with the design-the
older platform looked better- I would cop a g35 before even test driving that thing

There are two auto trannys for 2004, depending on the SE or SL model.

I think the current TL looks way more elegant. THis new one looks like a TSX, it does not even look bigger.

The interior owns the 6th gen looking at pics though.
