A friend of mine has a y2k SE and he want to keep his stock muffler and remove his resonater. He had heard that it leaves the exhaust with a tone but not very loud. Has anyone ever done this? If so how did it sound? Thanks in advance for any help u can give him.

mine was removed with a custom b pipe but i already had a y pipe and an intake. the only time i can hear a difference is at idle when its cold. even then, its not that noticeable. if he is stock besides that, it may affect a tad but from my experience he wont hear a difference driving around.

I have done this also with a Cattman SS y-pipe, stock b-pipe with removed resonator into the stock muffler...you will hardly notice any difference at all with the stock y-pipe, like sloppymax said...youll hear a difference at idle when its cold, after that you might hear it when you are slowing down in lower gears or when you are at WOT...if it wont cost you much i would say do it, it only cost me $20 to have it done so i did it a while back. anyway...thats my $.02
