do you really have to change these things 12 months or 12k miles. necessity? or is this nissan sarcasm.

Re: cabin air filter

The install is pretty easy and can be done within 15 minutes. The thing that will slow you down is trying to find the 4 screws. The bottom right one is beneath the glove next to the right door hinge. The left is directly on the other side of the glove compartment next to the center console. The upper 2 are in the corners. You also have to remove the latch with the 2 screws attaching it. You will notice the glove will come out with some finessing. BE VERY CAREFULL to not damage the air bag connector just under the dash. It should be yellow. Just disconnect the plug by pinching the sides... comes right out. Then the filter (2 peices) will slide into the vertical compartment located behind the glove compartment. It is held on by a latch at the bottom that easily snaps off and on. Good luck. The process took me 30 minutes total due to locating all the screws I had to remove.

I just changed my air filter out after 38,000 miles and I don't use the AC much like many people do. I want fresh air all the time. I drive my car with the windows down mostly. With that said, when I changed my filter out it was still very clean. Bought the new one from Dave B. Group deal. Easy DIY for an afternoon. 30 minutes tops even if this is your first time.
