ricer says he can beat me

ok i posted this picture of a riced out civic a few weeks ago.

well i talked to the guy last night and he says he can beat me easily cause of all his "mods" which include the body kit, spoiler, intake, and catback (he didnt include the blue flames which must add 10hp). he admited to having 180hp!! o no, what power!! i told him he might get me off the line since he is a 5 speed. he said he would beat me off the line and at ANY speed!! he said we could be going 50 on the highway, floor it, and kill me!! is he stupid!!!
he said he would win because
a. he is lighter (by about 1,000 lbs)
b. he has a 5 speed
c. and the funniest...because of his body kit he said the body kit reduces resistance by half!!! ok people it may reduce it a little, BUT HALF??? it is all for looks!!!
i guess i will just have to race him and hand him his *** and show him the VQ power!!!

Reduces wind resistance by a half? Hmm.... So two barn doors have half the wind resistance of one barn door? He need's to work for Lockeed Martin and teach them they've been worng all along about aircraft design.

Actually, I owned a 94 Civic EX and I could bury the 135mph speedometer with no problems.

My first time at the track I found lots of people in their ricers laughing, especially after seeing the car seat in the back. I only had an intake at the time. After my 1st run with the civic from hell (every bolt on without forced induction or juice), the guy came running over and was saying, "please don't tell me it's an auto". I could see the pain. They are quick cars with all the bolt-ons even with no juice or forced induction, but you should be able to beat him pretty easily with the mods you listed. The biggest mistake most people make when they see our car is over estimating the weight. They automatically think we weigh mid to high 3k's. When they find out that it's lower 3k's they are usually very shocked.

I also had a race with a civic at the track - he had every bolt on. ran a 15.2, which is respectable... unfortunatly I had my worst run of the night that time around and only beat him by a car length.
Also, about the over estimating our cars weight, that's very, very true. I've had numerous poeple tell me how their cars are quicker because even with my 255 hp my car weighs 3800 pounds.... most people dont realize the Maxima only weighs like 3250 pounds! element of surprise

I guess I had a freak Civic kinda like blubyu2k2's auto maxima. I knew nothing about modding back then and would race about anything under the sun. I remember going down rt 50 racing an Integra that had exhaust work done and an intake. Obviously he had a huge advantage. A coworker of mine who lived down the street from me with the same exact civic was unable to hang with us. I was able to barely beat the Integra. The 0-60 times were like 1 to 1.5 seconds difference between the Teg and me everything being stock. The guy followed me to work wanting to know what the hell I had under the hood and was extremely shocked that I was stock. It just goes to prove that anything can happen on the streets.

As far as the 135mph+, all I can say is I used to do this all the time as an immature youth traveling down to James Madison University to see my then girlfriend, now wife. It got to 110 pretty quickly but took a long time to climb after that. I actually missed that car for years after selling it for a stupid Dodge Stratus.

Ummm...that it's a big world and everything is relative.

A Civic slow compared to a Maxima, just as a Maxima is slow compared to an M5.

It's a shock to those who are convinced that the Max is God's chariot.

All I can say is, if this is someone you know and he has a rice beater Civic like the one pictured, tell him put up or shut up.

Then smoke him like a $2 cigar.
