Steering wheel audio controls not functioning...

Steering wheel audio controls not functioning... actually it does, but it's sporadic at best. When it does work, it's when the steering wheel is at center. If i turn the wheel, it ceases to function. Is this something I can repair? or do I have to bring it in to nissan?

Yo B!

Doesn't sound good. When you're parked and you turn the wheel, do you still have control? Don't remember ever using the controls while making a turn. May have to take it in. See what MaxVel has to say.

Why are you trying to use the controls while turning in the first place?

I believe that the controls funtion by using a slip ring, that make contact with each other.

Hey Bryan...that's wierd. J..do you have any problems with your controls? I don't have controls on mine so I can't tell you, but Bryan, if it's a short or something, you'll probably need to take it in.

thanks for the replies fellas...

yah, parked or in motion, when i nudge the wheel it'll stop workin'. I took it apart this afternoon, the plastic that covers the wires and shaft, and it seems to work w/o the covers... once i tightened it up, same old story. I played around with the screws and varied the torque. Functionality is a little more consistent, less sporadic, but still cuts off once in a while...

the quest continues... especially since i'm 2K miles outta the bumper to bumper warranty... hohohoho...
