Sunroof Problems
Sunroof Problems
For some reason my Sunroof on my 2k3 does not work. The sliding button that opens up in increments does not work. The button that opens up the sunroof a little bit still works. I'm trying to troubleshoot it but can't seem to find the fuse. Does anyone know where the fuse is located and or know what I should do to troubleshoot it? I tried taking apart the sunroof button on the top with unscrewing the two screws in the glasses department.
Any help is appreciated..

I restarted it in my 2k max by disconnecting the battery, then holding the brake pedal for a few seconds (drains any excess capacitance in the electrical system), then reconnecting the battery. I then had to tilt the sunroof up to "initialize" it (it wouldn't open after reconnecting the battery, but after tilting the sunroof up and back down it worked perfectly.)
Mine's worked perfectly ever since.
Actually now that I read the thread more... you already did disconnect the battery once. Try tilting it up and back down, if it doesn't work then disconnect the battery/hold the brake pedal/reconnect it to reset it again.

This all started when I disconnected the battery to install my Injen Cold Air Intake. After I put the negative terminal back on, the fuse for the cigarette lighter blew. I replaced the fuse and everything was fine. Than I tried opening the sunroof the next day and the sliding button does not work any more and only the button to tilt the sunroof up and down works.
The brake thing sounds unusual indeed. I never heard such a thing but I will give it a try to undisconnect the battery and try to press the brake and reconnect it again.

FYI, after I "reset" my sunroof my sliding switch didn't work either--I tilted the sunroof up, held the button for 5-10 seconds, then tilted it back down and it worked fine.
The brake thing isn't any kind of rocket science; in fact there might be other ways of doing it... the idea is that when you push the brake pedal, the brake switch attempts to turn on the brake lights, and when it does, it should drain any power stored in capacitors inside other electrical devices connected to the electrical system, thus ensuring that the sunroof motor is COMPLETELY drained of power (i.e. no residual power left to keep the sunroof motor's computer alive, thus causing it to reset fully when you reconnect the power)
haha, OK, it's not supposed to be rocket science at least...
