XM Satellite Radio
Do any of you guys have XM installed in your max. I'm debating whether or not to subscribe to it. What setup did you guys go with? I got the factory bose system, so replacing the headunit is not an option for me. Really don't want to use an fm modulator neither, as I hear it degrades the sound quality. Is there a way to use the changer input as an aux input? Also, what do you guys think of the service?
I have XM running off Premier DEH-P940MP. I don't believe you can use an aux input unless the head unit itself is XM ready. You may want to consider going to a shop and listening for yourself what an RF modulated XM tuner sounds like. It may sound cleaner then you think.

I have the Delphi XM unit in my 2K2 with Bose. I used a Pro-fit mount and the cassette adapter (it sounds better and is louder than the FM modulater). You'll get a bit more volume out of the Bose because the Delphi had a gain control so you can amplify the signal going in. I'm very satisfied. I'll post a pic on my homepage soon.
I've got Sirius with a panasonic unit hooked to the Bose with a FM modulator, the sound is fine. My only complaint is that its somewhat quiet. I think that is because of the adapter wires I had to use to change the plug on the antenna wire (larger, Japanese type to smaller US then back). I bet if I got some better ones this wouldn't have been a problem.
Also, my roommate has a 99 Alero with XM on his stock radio. He's got the Delphi Skyfi and the profit mount. Looks really good with that mount. He's using the FM modulator as well and it sounds great. We tried it with both the cassette adapter and the modulator and couldn't tell a difference. My guess is, if the FM modulator degrades the sound, you'll never notice it. You'll need a much better stereo system than the stock bose to notice anything and even then its minimal.
So, get the Delphi Skyfi unit & Pro-fit mount. I'd get the FM mod instead of using the cassette, but thats just me.

XM radio on 2k2 Bose setup
I had my XM installed by Circiut City for $50 bucks and around another $30 for profit mount and $80 for FM modulator and antenae adapter. Be careful when you chose the antenae adapter because the first one I had installed cancelled out my AM reception which I need for highway emergency postings. Other than that it is slightly lower than the radio and CD playback. Also have the FM modulator in a location where you can get to it so that you can change the frequency. One channel location may work better than the next. All in all XM radio is awesome plug it into the craddle set the channel on the Bose radio and off you go. It would be a great Idea if the modulator would send it's call sign to the Bose unit to indicate that XM is on. Also the antenae for the XM can be mounted on the back platform where the bass is located. XM Delphi unit is great for the car, home, and beach.
I have the Sirius connection with a Panasonic FM modulator and standard radio config (2k2). Sound is just fine for me and it gets loud enough to keep my kids happy. I don't even know where they hid the modulator. Only thing visible inside is the small controller on the dash.
Down side to the "permanent" Panasonic unit, it does not show Artist and title at the same time. You have to press the main button to cycle through the 3 option displays (category of song, artist, title).
I'm headed cross country in a couple of weeks (from oregon to at least michigan) and wanted to have good tunes while speeding through the plain states *grin*.
