best way for good 60ft times for autos rpms up or just floor it
#2
well with stock tires, i dont think it's a good idea to floor it... u'd be spinning in place for a good 2 seconds...
what i usually do (dont kno if this is the best way)... is i brake torque at about 1700... and i press about 1/2 - 3/4 throttle when it's time to go... and slowly press down more until i feel like i have some grip and then floor it.....

yah basically, just put on the break and give it gas to about 3000 rpm or so. And shift at about 5,800ish rpms to keep your car from red lining.

You'll get faster times by just flashing the TQ conv. Don't spool up the engine and just hold it...that will kill brakes and your tranny in the long run (probably not as long as you think, either). By flashing, I mean you need to be on the brakes, and time your increase of throttle to the tree, but only be on the brakes and gas for 1/2 a second or so maximum. It takes time to get it right (it's kind like a little tap dance sequence you have to do), but when you do, you will get those 60' times down where you want them. This only really applies to stock/street tires. Also, no burnouts! They don't help street tires. Just do a little "scuffing" burn to get the junk off your tires, and only do it once every few runs.

Also, 5,800 is a little early. I've found that if you shift around 6k to 6,100, the tranny will make the actual shift at about 6,500 (just about perfect).

But with the 2k2-2k3 I would think 1800 would be about right with the stall and then shift at 6100ish.

Yes you have to shift manually
shift 1-2 at 6,100rpms
shift 2-3 at 6,400rpms
Leave O/D on. The 1/4 mile track doesn't let you take advantage of the TC locked up. You might get slower times since the time the TC locks up is like a life time (exaggeration of course)
You have to experiment with launching. I can tell you how I launch, but its better you experiment with it yourself.
