FTSB question concerning alignment

The three bolts on the top of the tower. What do they support? And does loosening them to install the FTSB have any adverse effect on the cars alignment?

Thanks

They hold the strut's top plate to the chassis.

If you're worried about alignment, I'd make sure the car's sitting on a perfectly level surface with the front wheels straight before loosening them, make sure the FSTB's collar plate sits flat, and torque each nut identically (and USE a torque wrench, for that matter)... and then get the alignment checked if you're REALLY concerned.

I took my old car (a '90 Mazda 626) to a shop for alignment once, and they said the camber was off for both front tires, and they had to unbolt that strut plate, lower the strut/wheel and rotate the strut plate, tighten the nuts again, check the alignment and keep doing that procedure until they find a configuration that falls within spec. (They charged me an extra 1hr labor for it, too, heh...) So I do believe that top strut plate has influence on the alignment, particularly camber...
Any other comments?

They hold the strut assembly to the strut tower which is a part of the cars frame, and installing a FTSB will have no effect on your allignment. I just put one on and like the way it helps the car handle. The car handles better but i think adding a RSB will really tighten things up. Good luck

The FSTB helps dive into corners, the RSB helps you maintain throughout.

With both on my Max, I can take an offramp at 60mph no problem.
