Set your sights on the M3. You can pick him off easy.....or not.

I'm not certain with the 6G Max but whenever I nail it, I put on a burnout clinic. But try an easy launch and work your way towards a hard launch (over several runs) so you can determine your "traction threshold" @ launch.

Let us know how you do.

Peace.

lol he will destroy me, ive driven the car lol. its fast, if driven correctley low 13s stock... but with my friend driving it i would think high 13s, but thats in good weather. well see how its gonna be.. ill be happy with high 14s. my brother went at the end of june with his 03 cl type s auto stock, the temp was 93 degrees and 80% humidity and he ran a 14.97 with pretty bad conditions so i hope i do the same or better..

You should get 14s. At the track by me it would be hard for a MAx to spin the tires with all that sticky compound they are always spraying on the track...

Practice shifting manually so that each gear changes just before the rev limiter. Find out exactly where your limiter is first, and it may not be what the dishonest tachometer says.

actually the 04 max has automatic traction control, its like built in, but it doesnt seem to be there... because if u nail it spins. but there is no button like the 02 and 03.

I would nail it if it is hot outside.

Then if you get major wheel spin rollon the gas for the second run.

I say a 14.9 would be the fastest I would predict. I am thinking 15.2ish if hot outside. A trap of 91ish.

Hmmmm I thought 2004 Maxima had VDC, which you can turn off. At least my friend on his 350Z can turn it off.
VDC keeps cuts the power down when it senses wheels spining.

I thought I saw the button for VDC on some interior pics of 2004 Max. I might be wrong though.

Are you going to run with a "full" car? What I mean by that is are you taking out your spare, jack, and any other crapola you might have in the vehicle (CD cases, jackets, blankets, water...etc). If you're going full, I guess 15.2~ish at 91-92 MPH. If you empty some of the weight out, then I'd say 14.85~ish at 93-94 MPH. Remember to only have about 30 pounds of gas in the car when you make your runs...

I totally agree!! When I ran my 14.725 sec ET, my fuel light had been lit for quite some time, so I was near empty.

Do you have the 5 speed auto? or the 4 speed? I'm not sure which model comes with which tranny... if its the 5 speed auto, a 14.9 should be done, otherwise, look for 15 flat or 15.1. I ran a 14.8 with my GLE auto and only had a 2.3xx 60' time. if you get a good 60' then you should pull under 15 I would think, especially with the 5 speed auto. I ran cartest on the 2004 max with the 5 speed auto vs. my max and i believe my car took it by just a tiny bit but only cause i'm lighter. Just go and have a good time at the track. And dont drive thru the water! (Dunno if you've been before and have already made that mistake)

At least you have the luxury of not driving through it... At the track I go to, you are forced to because they spray the water hose on the ground right at the entrance to the lanes and have the concrete walls on both sides of that, so you're forced to... Also, why is this thread in the 5th gen forum???

Very true! Although I generally never let the empty gas tank light come on, my car was near empty when I made my runs. In my best run that day I hit 14.71 @ 96.3MPH in my stock 2002 TLS. Also, make sure your Traction Control System is off if at all possible. I ran 15.xx once when I forgot to turn it off.

Having a similar FWD car with a lot of HP and torque, I would suggest not flooring the car. The best thing is to just get it rolling before full throttle. I seemed to get the best times this way.
