Trunk Closure Problem

I'm having a problem with the trunk on my 03 and was wondering if anyone has this problem or is it just mine.

To close the trunk it takes a soft touch but every once in a while I close it harder than it should(not slamming it though) and the trunk is hitting the body. A few places have paint chips from this and I thouched them up but the paint will come off again in the exact same spot if the trunk is closed hard.

It looks like the rubber cushions on the trunk can't be adjusted. Thank.

I have the same issue on my 03 as well, i think that im gonna try putting something on the bump stop to make it a tad taller. Also all that 100+ mph driving cant help, with the spoiler pressing down and all.

Perhaps your bumper cover is not correctly installed. I had to have mine repainted, and the rookie putting it back together messed it up. There are some little clips that it snaps into, otherwise it rides too high and causes interference when the trunk lid tries to close.

IIRC there is a TSB for this. (when it hits the bumper) Check the stickies.

Wow, I had this EXACT same experience. I got my money back from the body shop because the guy putting everything together was on crack that day. I did his job all over again.
