vibration at highway speeds and under braking on 2k GXE
my 2000 GXE has about 42k miles on it and vibrates badly when i get up to highway speeds. i can feel the shaking mainly in the steering wheel.
also, under heavy braking from a highway speed, the same vibration can be felt in the steering wheel - only worse.
i was wondering if any of you guys had any idea what the problem might be. i've only had the car for about 6k miles and it seems to get worse the more miles i put on it. not sure what kind of brake work was done to it prior to my purchasing it. the dealership recently briefly looked at the brake pads and said they were "ok", but i'm not sure if they looked any further into it. rotors maybe? any other ideas?

about how much $ should that run me parts and labor? i just had new rotors and pads put on my Infiniti QX4 and it was like over $300 (of course it was covered under warranty...so they may of inflated the prices).
my mechanic charged me 110 each rotor and the bill came to 300 but i brought my own brake pads so it was 300 all together not including pads for just the front rotors--kinda pricey for stock rotors or u could get powerslot rotors for 200 for the front rotors and 60 for the brakes pads and u can go 2 your mechanic and he might charge u 80 bucks for labor or more it depends
could just need balancing... altho your rotars are probly damaged. My dad's old camry vibrated pretty bad at low speeds until he figured out the front axle was cracked... but it didnt vibrate at high speeds so hopefully thats not it
how about you have your mechanic checks your rotors for uneven wear? They may simply need to be resurfaced. You also need to balance your tires to take care of the high-speed vibration.
