Is anyone else besides me experiencing a loud squeal between 2000 and 3000 RPMs on the shift from first to second or between 3000 and 4000 RPMs on the shift from second to third?
The problem is intermittent. It does not seem to be temperature related. The fluid color is normal and the level is full. The car has 48,000 miles.
The squeak sounds like a high pressure fluid valve trying to close but having pressure problems. Kind of like when you take a balloon and pinch and pull the end to make squealing noises as the gas escapes.

I'm trying to figure out how serious of a problem this is before I give the dealership $80 to ride along with me to see if they can diagnose it. I know the one day I take it to them will be a day the car is behaving...

I keep thinking it may be related to the auto transmission TSB from ~3 years ago. I had the solenoids replaced but not the TCM.

Any recommendations on what the cause could be or how I could reliably reproduce the noise?

I had my tranny go out before they published that TSM. If the solenoids weren't replaced it wears out the brake band, which causes slipping in 2nd and 4th only. It didn't make any noise though so this may have nothing to do with it! Just FYI

Hmm, since the solenoids were replaced and I haven't heard anyone else chime in then I guess I have a personal problem.
Time to bite the bullet and pay Nissan $80 to listen to me go "there, do you hear it now".
