Man! I just read through 11 pages of *****ing. All this speculation is a waste. Either buy the damn things or shut up and wait to hear from the first people who put them on their car. No more crying about $$. At least we have another power option finally! If you don't want to fork out the dough, then DON'T..but another car!

A header y-pipe combo for $840 shipped isn't that bad. You're going to pay about $250 for a y-pipe alone, so thats $590 for the headers.
I'd personally like to see a gain of 19 whp or more for the price. Eliminating the precats should be very helpfull. For 19 whp or more I'll shell out the cash.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't work that way for these. You wouldn't be able to use any other aftermarket Y or your stock one with these. The angles of the piping and the flange locations are completely different. You would have to have a custom Y made.

I realise that. But I think I can have one made cheaper that the $300++ that Stillen charges for theirs.

On second thought it can't be done unless you just get the shorts. If you look at a pic of these you will see the the left/rear bank runner goes right into the Y as 1 piece.
Do you have a shop with a mandrel bender near you?

Based on the last picture I saw of these headers I am not 100% sure that those are the actual headers for the 3.5l Maxima. It doesn't look like a Maxima fit. I would have to see actual pictures to be sure tho... It's not that big of a deal to get tubes mendrel bend or buy some elbows and weld them onto straight tube.

Stillen provided us with this picture of these headers and it is a maxima header. We are still waiting for our first header to arrive here, but as soon as it does I'll get more pics up.

I don't doubt that you have them for the Max. I was just saying that based on the pictures I can see they don't look it. It could be the angle they were taken also.
What about a price with no y-pipe?

How much for the headers without the y-pipe?
As one who has researched the whole headers/y-pipe issue, here's what I found. The reason that the Y-pipe is integrated into the headers is for a few simple reasons:

The first is that not very many shops (only 1 out of 100+ that I called) can bend a 2.25" pipe in a 180° bend in a 3" radius, much less a 2.5" pipe. And that is mandrel -AND- non-mandrel benders. This is one of the biggest reasons (I assume) that Stillen integrated it into the headers.

Secondly, headers without the Y-pipe allows for airflow inconsistancies if used with the stock Y-pipe. This is partly because there is no room for adjustments on the exhaust-side O2 sensors. The header-side O2 sensors would see more volume (different mixture) than the exhaust-side sensors, which could/would throw off the ECU enough to throw an evil SES/MIL light.

Thirdly, bolt up Y-pipes that aren't equal-length Y-pipes -OR- mismatched header/Y-pipe pipe sizes can do funky stuff to the car. It's not so bad if your headers are 2.25" and the Y-pipe is 2.5", but when it's the other way around, you can cause some longer-term problems.

Lastly, how else do you think Stillen could support getting $840 for some headers?

Y2KSESteve: Can you tell us when they actually ship? Or have they already shipped? That's so we can have an idea as to when to expect dyno information from someone who gets them installed. Thanks.

Stillen is shipping the headers based on the time that they received the order. I'm not 100% sure about where our orders are in line for these headers, but as soon as our customer's headers have shipped they will be receiving a tracking number via E-mail.

The headers aren't available yet. SWA is taking preorders so none have shipped out yet. Believe me, I think when people start getting them, we'll hear about it- Good or Bad.
