MAF Adapter

I'm doing a friend a favor and installing a cone filter on his completeley stock '01 GLE. I ran into two problems: 1.) he doesn't want to spend more than around $30 and 2.) he wants to be able to put the original air box in later. I was planning on taking out that metal ring in the air box that connects to the MAF assembly and attaching the cone filter using that ring. Unfortunately, once that ring comes out, I wont be able to put it back in the airbox since its attached with rivets. This forces me to use a MAF adapter, but the cheapest one I can find is $20, and that's for a plastic one. Is there a cheaper source for MAF adapters and do I have any other options?

Do a search on ebay, I think I saw them running for about $9+ shipping.

Not for the '01. Not at the moment at least, but I'll keep checking, thanks.

thats the cheapest option i have heard of. procarparts.com may still sell the maf adapter but it was around 25 bucks and they take forever to ship. it is metal and i dont know what shipping would be.
