VAIS question on boosted car, how does it work?

The reason why I ask this question is cause the FSM is not clear on how it works to me.

On my setup right now the VAIS vacuum line is connected to the charged pipe. Now I remember Kevin telling me this is wrong cause basically it will open too early. Because it waits for zero vacuum and it will get to that easily by 2000rpm when im boosting.

But the reason why im confused is I thought the VAIS opened on 5000rpms, not vacuum. Im totally lost on this double setup if it needs 5000rpm and zero vacuum to open.

Can someone explain if my VAIS is opening when I start boosting? I keep forgetting to look at this on the dyno so I can see if it is.

This may help my low end if it is opening too early and all I have to do is relocate the vacuum line to the intake side.

If you want to see on the dyno when your VIAS is openening, you need to look at the small L-shaped rod underneath the solenoid control box. It should swing back when the VIAS opens.

From the FSM:

Power Valve

The power valve is installed in intake manifold collector and used
to control the suction passage of the variable induction air control
system. It is set in the fully closed or fully opened position by the
power valve actuator operated by the vacuum stored in the surge
tank. The vacuum in the surge tank is controlled by the VIAS control
solenoid valve.

VIAS Control Solenoid Valve

The VIAS control solenoid valve cuts the intake manifold vacuum
signal for power valve control. It responds to ON/OFF signals from
the ECM. When the solenoid is off, the vacuum signal from the
intake manifold is cut. When the ECM sends an ON signal the coil
pulls the plunger downward and feeds the vacuum signal to the
power valve actuator.

From this it seems like the ECU controls the actual switching of the VIAS through the solenoid, independent of the vacuum. But under boost, it may act funny...

Damn that the same paragraphs I read. Makes no sense to me. All I remember Kev telling me that Its probably opening at the minute I start boosting.

I know about that Lshapped rod. Ive tested it at idle and it clicks over at 5k rpm, but obviously no boost there.
