k&n drop in filter

k&n drop in filter

whats up guys? i have a 04 max but the k&n filter i baught comes with these two tabs do i have to put them in if the filter drops totaly perfectly in? or i do have to put them in"?? any info would help alot. this should work the same for an 02 or 03 thats why im asking over here, thanks in advance guys

By perfectly, do you mean it just drops in or do you mean it is a snug solid fit? If not snug in the housing, the foam strips are to take up the slack and not have the filter loose in the slot.

basicly what im asking is, if it is snug than i dont have to use them? if it isnt snug than where do i put these foam strips? thanks again

That's odd. My K&N drop in came with instructions. Take it back and tell them the instructions fell out. They should at least give you he instructions out of another box.

Is it snug in the housing like the stock filter was? I know when I put the K&N in my 2K2 it was a little bit loose inside the filter housing like JJS said. When I put the strips on the top and bottom of the housing then the filter fit in nice and snug like the stock filter. I am surprised that yours is different, but if it is already snug without the strips then I don't really see why you need them. Otherwise, just stick them on the inside of the housing, top and bottom, and fit the filter in between them.
