Please Help Me Identify This Blasted Thingy
Please Help Me Identify This Blasted Thingy
What in the crap is hooked up to the + on my battery?!?!
Terminal Dust Cover:

Crazy Whacky Black Distribution Block-Looking Fuse Thingy:

Clearly it is some kind of distro system which breaks the system into 2 wires, each seems to be 4awg.
The clamp on the post is clearly a standard clamp; however, it seems to have a backend which is custom fit to the bracket on the distro block thingy.
Also, in the last picture there is some kind of '+' shaped plug or something towards the front of the picture. What in the world is that? Is that a plug for me to screw in additional battery posts?? (Please say YES!!)
This is a bit concerning, seeing as how I have a new battery terminal in the mail which is designed to cover the post completely:

Thanks in advance,
Kevin

haha very funny.. No seriously, NO ONE knows what this is?
I called Nissan and they say it's basically a fuse holder for the 120a fuse for the alternator, and that there must be some kind of distro inside of it.. *shrug*

it's a fuse to your fuse box so when you jump start your car it doesn't fry your fuse box and ECU.

oh sorry, that was an oversight on my part...
Hmmm, very interesting.. ok, so that explains what the 120a fuse and wire is for, and then I guess the other wire is for charging the battery from the alternator, right?
Is there anything special about these two lines/wires that I should know about? Is the fuse's wire just a wire with 120a fuse? Is the alternator's wire just a std. wire with no apparent fuse?
Thanks a million man..
