Well today I was attempting to install a 5th gen stillen rear valance onto my 2k2. I made holes on each side near the fender to secure each end with screws. What I dont know how to do is secure the rear of the lip from staying up. Is that what the double sided tap is for? The lip also came with rivots and screws but I'm not sure where to use them. Can anyone explain this to me? Thanks

 

I just used 3M tape and 2 screws on each side in the fender. And it has not gone anywhere. After 3 months. Because the lip on the bumper hold it up. The hard part is popping the valance over that lip. The way I did it was I put the sides into place first then pushed with all my might the valance up then I heard a pop and it was in place. I hope that was some help.

 

Yup, that makes perfect sense. I just have to buy some more 3M tape. Where exactly did you put the tape? Did you just apply it to the lip on the bumper? Thanks so much!

 

Get Scotch 3M EXTERIOR MOUNTING TAPE-- no hardware store around my house carries it...i have to go to a home improvement store (ex. Builder Square, Lowe's, etc.)....apply 3M tape to top inside part of body kit so it sticks to bumper of car

DO NOT use the crap tape stillen gives you, it will let go.

 

Thanks for the great input guys. Yeah I was wondering about that Stillen tape, it didnt seem to be very sticky. Now I gotta shop around for this 3M tape

 

Did you use the rivots that were supplied by Stillen, or just the screws?

 

The rivets done really matter, I used different ones but they looked the same (I used rivets) I had to redo my rear after the stillen tape let go, the center section of the rear was slagging slightly. I got the 3M double sided from Ace hardware and ran in the entire lenght of the bumper and have had no problems since.
