I asked the question last year and was told Maguires Scratch X would work. I haven't tried it yet b/c I'm afraid I'll do more damage.

I've used it on my car (including the bumpers) several times, and no damage yet. Obviously if it's a deep scratch into the plastic the Scratch-X won't solve it - but it's pretty good with minor paint scratches.

Scrath-X has not done any damage to my black Maxima. I like it for minor scratches.

Depending on the size of scratches, either Scratch X or GS-27 may work, If they are pretty deep, I'd go with the Turtle Wax color match. Keep in mind, all these are temporary fixes, and the scratches will show after 2-3 weeks or so.. If you want something permanent, go with touchup paint.

I thought the Scratch X was a permanent fix for things like swirl marks. My bumper got scratched when the wife used a paper towel and water to remove a spot. The towel did a nice job of marking up the bumper.

Nope, it will last a while, but after a number of car washes you would need to re-apply. At least that is the experience I had with it.

The fix has been permanent for me - like I said, it's good for minor scratches and abrasions, and if they go, they disappear for good.
