i was talking to the guy who was at the nissan desk. i asked him about the 2002 that will have the 3.5L. he said that nissan has no plans to put a new motor in the max until the next generation, when its a full size. i politely disagreed, saying that ferom what i heard, they were putting a 3.5 into the 2002. he says in an arrogant tone "oh i forgot, you know more than i do. can i just go home and leave you here then??" i was pissed at him. what a jerk. im wondering if nissan has a school that they send their reps and service managers to to teach them how to be impolite noncourteous fools. frankly i am getting tired of all the crap that nissan as a whole gives us, their loyal customers. i dunno, the wrx, is300, and the s60 t5 all looked pretty sweet

You should have asked him for his card. What a jerk. If he's wrong this fall... call him up. If we're wrong, forget you ever met him.

maxman, what did the jerkoff look like? I talked to a guy last week at the Philly show, didnt catch his name but appeared to be in his late 20's with short brown hair and he sounded sure that the 2002 will have the Pathfinders 3.5 vq. Doesnt sound like the same guy to me.

Just saw on the Edmunds Maxima forum #11, A guy claims he was told at the Chicago Auto show that the Maxima will get an upgraded engine for 02 but the Nissan Rep was vague about the details. Sounds like you should have relieved him of his duties right then and there at the show Maxman!

I think if there was anything definite everybody would know. Half the salesmen/reps say one thing and half say the other. It may be that it is just wishful thinking on our part that the 2002 will have the new engine. I hope so, I don't want to think that I bought my car a year too early.

Gregg, your 92 Corolla is 10 years old now. Your Maxima if you even own one must be hidden away somewhere because you are always driving that Corolla.

Was reading an article from three weeks back in AutoWeek. They had a great little article on the 2k1 Anniv. Edition w/ 5spd.

There was a story on the new Z-car and stated that the 275 hp engine would be in the summer 2002 model Max.

Still anyone's guess,...right?
