I have a 2k2 with 23500 miles and the engine light came on today could it be the maf sensor? The car drives like normal and i checked the engine oil and gas cap.

Folks,

I posted this in a similar titled thread a few weeks ago. There is a screw that connects the wire of the gas cap to the body. (Just open the fuel door, and follow the wire from the cap to the body. U'll see it). Tighten that screw up, and that's what made my engine light go off. I have 7K on my Max. HTH.

Yeah, the screw on my 2k2 caused my light to come on.

My wife's 2k1, on the other hand, came on twice - both times and oxygen sensor died. Oh well...it was under the warranty.

What was the error code on your ECU, when you had this problem?

I don't know what error code it was. I just tightened the screw, and the light went off. I imagine the screw acts as some sort of ground or something, which prolly triggers a sensor in the ECU to come on telling the computer the cap is loose....HTH.
