New competition for 00/01 Maximas?

Car and Driver reports the new Pathfinder Armada (5 sp. Auto) does 0-60 in 7.0s and the quarter in 15.5 @ 89mph....if im not mistaken that makes a 5300 lb sport-ute some stiff competition for us 2000-2001 stock/lightly modded guys (esp. automatic) off a stoplight? Apparently its so big that "The Armada is such a change for Nissan that many of its dealerships had to be modified so the big ute would fit in showrooms and service bays." I just found all that to be pretty impressive...

Stock 5spd 2k-2K1 will do a 15.0 Flat with a decent/good driver...

The boys over at www.tundrasolutions.com are able to pull mid-15's @ 86-87 mph in their i-Force 4.7L V8 Tundra 2WDs and "only 235 HP" or whatever it is. I wouldn't be surprised if the big V8 in the Armada would really haul some booty. Did they test the 2WD or 4WD model?

The Armada that was tested was the 2WD LE. 5.6L 32v DOHC V-8, 305hp @ 4900rpm/385lb-ft @ 3600rpm. 90% torque availible from below 2500rpm. I didn't say it would beat a Max, but impressively it wouldn't be toooo far behind for a full-size 2.5 ton SUV.

it's probably 2WD since it's lighter than a 4WD.

and honestly...who cares!!! it's a truck for pete's sake! who cares if a truck does what in a 1/4mile? i mean a Ford Lightening is pretty cool and all, but afterall, they're trucks!!! it's probably better to talk smack about how much you can 'tow' or 'load' and stuff...

7.0/15.5 is quicker than most 00-01 autos, and nearly as quick as a stock 5spd. Pretty impressive for a 5000+ lb truck, eh?

What if they beat a Maxima while towing? That would really suck.

You know, Ive seen a dodge turbo deisel do that to a riced integra be4 He had a stage 2 bullydog chip that gives like 200hp and 400 lb ft of torque not to mention propane injection. Nothing like seeing a truck with a trailer dust a car
