Question about my trunk,..

Lovely day here in Alabama, nice cool weather, so I decided to do some minor things to the max...

Gonna fix my frankencar so it doesn't rattle in low RPMS, make my foglights come on with the parking lights, and other little stuff..

Firstly, I took out my spare tire.
Now when I put everything back together, the middle of my trunk is pressed down with ease. What can I do? Build my own spare tire cover with wood, because its that flimsy cardboard stuff thats not holding up...

For guys that have taken out their spare tires what did u do to make the trunk, "USEABLE"?

I can't even really put my golf clubs in the trunk now without it giving in...

Thanks..

I'd make a new cover out of at least 1/2" mdf, and maybe screw in a couple of short planks underneath the middle for extra support.
