wouLd a 2000 maxima turbo beat a 2003 m3?

if i was to put hal's kit or another custom turbo on my maxima would it push out enough hp to beat a new m3?

Question for you. Is your entire goal to beat the e46 M3 in your maxima? If so, maybe the turbo will help. Just keep in mind that the M3 can run the 1/4 mile in about 13.2secs with a good driver.

welcome to the org 2g, just so you know, we have a memeber of the org that ran 12 secons and change in a 4th gen turbo. if you got the loot for it, you can beat an m3. go to the general discussion and theres a vid of the 12 sec car..hlh i think his name is, sick maxima!!

I've seen it run. It was sick. There was also a 5th 2k1 or 2k (cant remember) that had a turbo on it. He didnt do well for the fact that the track was slick as can be at Beech bend. I've heard that car can do 13's But I am sure Hal would know.

Unless you're in love with the Maxima (or you just like a project car) its easier to just buy a fast car. Personally, I'd like my Maxima as a daily driver and park a 300ZX or an older Vette in the garage for my weekend toy, but no can do at the moment. Anything is possible with money too, as we've all seen

13.6 @ 105... my 2nd time to the track ever, using 15" stock wheels which are skinny (205 width)... untuned running 10psi. You can see my mods in my sig, and yes I ran horrible in Bowling Green... I'll give you the details.

1st run: I was the 8th car to run for the day (on the left side), ran a 2.68 second 60' due to poooooooor traction, then my clutch completely slipped in 2nd, so I had to shift to third... I ended up running a 15.5 @ 99mph... lol

2nd run: Good launch, missed 3rd... ran mid 14's at 102 I believe...

3rd run: Good launch, ran lean at the top of 3rd, and when I switched to 4th so I just let off because I was low on gas... ran a 14.0 @ 87 hahaha

4th run: Got more gas, good launch etc. ran lean in 4th again even after getting gas, so I let off again and ran a 13.8 @ 102

I just got an APEXi SAFC2 so I'll be going to the dyno soon and tuning my car. By the way, if you get nitrous with the turbo, you can run crazy times like Hal, and trap at almost 120. :P With slicks 11's should be easy.

Im not trying to say that it's impossible to outrun a M3, im just stating that it would not be an easy task. There has to be a lot of work done with the turbo (im refering to tuning) and plus we are FWD as opposed to an RWD M3. It's possible, that is why im saying good luck.

Yes but you can't expect a family sedan to out turn a REAL sports car, let alone the supurb handling of a bimmer.

A Maxima with a good suspension setup, i.e. RSB & FSTB, w/ a nice set of coilovers etc. should be able to out handle an M5, since the M5 weighs quite a bit more than our cars do.

You can put all the best aftermarket suspension parts you want on a 5th gen maxima and it'll never come close to either the M3 or M5 in handling.

I have a friend that has a 2k2 325i with oem sport suspension and it is absolutely amazing in the twisties. The road feel and steering are just awesome. Too bad it's such a slow car.

bimmers are really driving machines... they were built to hug the road... my sister's stock e36 m3 feels many times more rigid than my max with rsb, fstb, jic flt a2 and sfc.

and im definitely plannin the same

we cant compare a fun-to-drive sedan to a highprofile sports car
thats the difference between ur primary ride and ur 2nd car

Ah, but modified Maxima's can out turn them. The M3's probably would kick my a$$ on road courses, but they're nothing special for tight autocrosses. I'm currently leading 4 M3's this season. (And at least one driver is WAY better than I am). I'd sure love to have one anyway.

Obviously you didn't read what I said... And this goes for all of you that just commented on my post about a maxima being able to beat an M5 in the corners... The M5 in manual configuration weighs 4024 pounds, which in the case of my car is about 1000 pounds more. Explain to me how an M5 is going to be able to beat my car in the corners if I slam my car, and set adjustable coilovers to really stiff for race setting... I don't care if it's rear wheel drive or not, you know the outcome. It's the same reason Type R's own everything in AutoX's and they're FWD, because they're light and have a really stiff suspension.
