MAF replacement at 4,000 on '03 SE
MAF replacement at 4,000 on '03 SE
My maxima is going in to have MAF/ECU replaced (just 4,000 miles on my maxima). Anything I need to know or watch out for regarding MAF/ECU replacement? Rumor is they won't let me have the old MAF even if the new one is "worse".

MAF is a common problem... but why would they touch the ECU? Unless if they are resetting it, there is no need to bother with it.
The less you floor it the longer it should last. I think. Other than that it's a random thing.

Make sure the new part number is 22680-AM600. Also, take a copy of the TSB for Lack of Power with you. It's available on my homepage.
And as for how-not-to-blow-them, we're still figuring that out, because I blew the 22680-AM600 even after the ECU reprogram. So they are not 100% solid, but they appear to be more reliable than the 22680-6N200 or 22680-6N201.

I have a '03 SE and sometimes it just drags...doesn't want to go unless I floor it.

Look in the door and tell me the build date of your car please?
All the 2003s came with 22680-AM600. The part number is printed on the MAF tube assembly. If your stock airbox is still installed, it's harder to see it. But look where the filter goes. There is an angled round tube coming off the filter box towards the TB. That's the MAF tube. The writing on the tube faces the front bumper, so it's hard to read if the airbox is installed as the filter-area of the box blocks your view.
