Question regarding throttle body cables

Hi guys! I was looking at my throttle body today and wanted to know if anyone could tell me what the left cable (cable towards passenger side of car) is for? Also would anyone be able to tell me what tightening or loosening the cable would do? Thanks in advance.

The one nearest the TB is the throttle cable, the one farther away is the cruise control one. (at least on my 4th gen). Taking the slack out allows for the TB to open with minimal pedal effort. Lots of slack and you have to push the pedal farther to open it the same amount.

Unless your cable is super loose I wouldn't suggest you tighten it. Overtime it'll stretch and you'll end up having to replace it..
