i just read this thread and it said that only 3% of all max's sold are sticks. 3%???? thats an awful small number, i know that a lot of you on this board have manuals, so to try and get an accurate % of how many manuals and autos there are, i'm putting this thread up, just reply "auto" if you have an automatic, or "stick" if its a manual.

I bought Auto so my wife could use it in an emergency. She drove it once and had a minor accident (not her fault). She hasn't driven it since. I should have gotten a stick, after all.

Sometimes I want a stick though. I wanted my wife to be able to borrow my car occasionally and for the convenience of driving in city traffic.

I waited a month for a stick and caved and got an auto. I would expect this poll to be skewed toward sticks because most on this board are fanatics about their Maxes. Most people that love to drive hard prefer a stick.

auto.

people told me to get an auto b/c of the traffic in LA. should NOT have listened to them. the driving is no longer as fun as it could be. plus, loss of HP.

5-Speed, of course! You mean they make some other kind?
Seriously, our dealership seems to always have lots 'o 5-speed Maximas, I guess we must be different.

You think this thread is gonna be more accurate than the numbers released by Nissan themselves? Face it the Max is not a sports car, and it pains me to say that as much as anyone else in here. BTW I have a 5 speed, and it is pretty much the sole reason I bought the car. That and the awesome engine.

stick, along with the additional options of the ECU "fuel cut" problem and a shifter that gets lost on a 5-3 downshift.... at no extra charge... lol

first auto

ever owned. First V6 ever owned too, other than the 205 hp V6 in my 16' Donzi
Wouldnt get an auto in anything less than a V6...and I am totally happy with it, especially in the stop and go stuff.pllus my 16 year old daughter needs to learn to drive first keeping her mind on suriving road hazards, not worrying about what her feet and the gears are doing. That'll come later...much later

AUTO - would have definitely chose stick. Most of my cars were stick and you get SO much more control with a manual (I need not list them all, I'm sure). But I got sick and tired of the constant city traffic and a stop light or stop sign at every corner, so I had to go with an auto for my own sanity (and legs!) I'm still a manual transmission lover and the minute I'm out of the city, I'm going back to only manuals
