Mine just started I have 9k on the odo. Taking it in to the dealer tomorrow. If anyone else have had this problem, did the dealership give you any lip about fixing it under warranty?

I'm not a 100% sure that it is the lifters. But it has to be either Valve noise or lifters. Sounds like a damn diesel engine.

Lifters?

We are talking about the VQ aren't we? Did I somehow stuble into the Chevy V8 forum?

Happens in all gears at all speeds. But usually between 2500-3200 RPM or when accelerating lightly. Pretty annoying if you ask me. If I didn't know better I'd swear I had a diesel engine under the hood.

what octane gas are you using? Sounds like severe pinging. But yes take it to dealer to let them diagnose it and fix it

It's at the dealer right now. The service writer is trying to tell me that the problems are caused by the Synthetic Oil I'm using (Mobil 1). Yeah uhum ok...whatever. He says: Nissan doesn't recommend using synthetic oil since it hasn't been proven to give any benefits. Then tries to get me to change the oil (just had it changed 2 weeks ago). But I'll let you know what they come up with at the end of the day.

The dealer also called me today and is getting in touch with their district service tech. I requested him to come out to the dealership and diagnose the problem so I can get it fixed. I should hopefully hear something tomorrow or Friday.

Well....got the car back and the dealer is trying to tell me that it is caused by the synthetic oil, even though they couldn't find anything specifically wrong with the engine. So I guess when it dumps I'll bring it back to them in a gift wrapper. But they did manage to order some "rails" for my glovebox that where never installed from the factory?! Makes me want to run down and buy another Nissan!! God these guys suck!

Let me know if they come up with something on your end.

Have you called Nissan Consumer Affairs at all yet? 1-800-NISSAN-1

Ask the dealer if their field service rep can visit the dealer. Tell them you are NOT satisfied with their work....
