Car Cutting Off!!!! Please Help!!!!

I have a 2000 maxima w/ automatic transmission. When I hit bumps in the road or make right turns, the OD light flases and i can feel the car trying to cut off. Sometimes it does actually cut off. When the OD light flashes, the electricity cuts off for a split second and comes back on. It doesn't happen when i first start driving the car, it seems to only happen when the engine gets warm and gets worse the longer i drive it. Please help, I have no idea what it could be. All suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanx

im pretty sure the od light flashing is a transmission code. you should be able to pull it off with any obd2 diagnostic tester or take it to autozone and they can pull it for free.

More suggestions please. Dave Burnette told me it might be the alternator since the power goes in and out. What do you guys think?

Sounds like the alter to me. unplug your battery while car is on. If it shuts down, its the alternator

take the car to autozone or advance auto. the can test the output of the alternator to see if its in specs. might as well have the battery tested while you are at it.

I have a 2200 watt system and i'm running 2 optima batteries. The batteries are brand new and are working well. I had the alternator tested and they said it was fine. Could it be that the alternator can't handle 2 batteries?

did they test it while the system was on? i wouldnt doubt that it could not handle 2 batteries.

How many times does the OD light flash or does it stay on continually?

it flashes when the cars about to cut off. I think it's b/c when u turn on the car the light is on for a sec, then it turns off. I think there might be a short in the electrical system. It's at a mechanic now, hopefully it will be fixed.

The OD light will flash X number of times if therre is a particular AT issue. Otherwise, as you noted, the car may simply be turning off then back on. I would think your RPM's would drop, too.

Noooooo don't unplug the battery. That's like pulling the plug on your computer and that does the same thing to your electronics in the car.

I see now that you fixed your problem, but when I read the first post it sounded like a short or a bad ground for sure. I worked on a taurus one time that everything in this one particular circuit was grouned at this one common point... well the left blinker was in the circuit and when you put the blinker on the engine quit running. What was happening was that when you sent the signal for the blinker the computer noticed an open circuit and shut itself off. It was simple as cleaning a bad ground and the problem was fixed.

Could be your Crank Position Sensore. One of the symptoms is the car cutting off on you. There is a recall for that.
