Age of 5th Gen. owners?
Age of 5th Gen. owners?
I was just curious as to the average age of the people on this forum. Mainly because it seems like a younger crowd (I'm an OLD 43), and I was wondering how 18 to 22 year-olds in college can afford a $20,000 to $30,000 car? All I could afford back then was a $500 Vega!!
Thanks,
Bill

I'm 34.
As with any car, people get them by:
1) Parents' car
2) Parents' gift
3) Working to pay for it
4) Theft...whoops...strike that one.
I wish I even had a car back when I was in college. All I had was a bicycle to go around campus.
Peace.

24...been working hard from day 1....the finance rate was good, the price was good, and i wasn't accepting any car w/out it being stick. parents helped me in the down payment as a college grad gift. been paying it off since. and yeah, i notice this is a rather young crowd. there are some REALLY nice parents to get this car for their kids.

20, this is my second car. Parents helped a little bit, but I had to fork over most of the down payment along with selling my first love, a '91 Explorer that was cleeeeean. And I have to work to pay it off.. while being a full time student, AND trying to mod it. Ah yes, the glamorous life of me..
Age 22, still live with the folks, so I'm not paying any clown $800 a month for a crappy apartment. I bought mine with 24K miles for $16K, they practically are giving them away here in Chi-town. An 03 with low miles can be had for around $19K, before tax and financing obviously.
Have been working for over four years in the insurance industry.

Feel like I'm 88 (That's why I drive GLE's instead of SE's...just kiddin' I wouldn't "go-back" for anything and I workout like a maniac - life is good), am actually 38, look like I'm 28 (I think), and act like I'm still 18. Nothing better than being single, having a hard-earned portfolio, no debt and drivin' what I want when I want...

I'm 24. The Max is my first new car, I have put down every dollar that has been put in it so far. I work full time to pay for the Max, while I finish my last semester at college and still live at home. I just can't justify wasting money on rent if I don't have to, plus I'd much rather have a nice car anyway.

Max fit the bill for:
Two kids, so needed 4 doors
Need for some HP (or in this case, torque...
)The disinclination to spend a bunch of $$ on a car
Had a '95 Max that I bought with 5k miles on it, then bought this one as my first new car. Fun though it was, I'll never buy new again - that depreciation hit is just too hard to take. We bought my wife's 2k2 with 2,800 miles on it, for $10k! below the sticker price
21.
I work full time; still live with parents and got my grandma to co-sign with me for my 03 Max and cuz of her I got 1.9% This is my first new car; my newest car before this was a 92 Dodge Daytona that had 100,000 on it when I bought it.

I'm 38 and wanted a car that was bigger than my Altima and had a V6, plus I wanted something that lasts and look good as well.
The Max ended up being the best choice out of the cars I was considering.
I've owned 3 Nissans prior to my Max, so I'm pretty much sticking with Nissan or Infiniti, because I feel that their cars offer the best bang for the buck and last longer than those in the same league.

By the way, the cars not finished-the Volks (and 255/40/18 michelins)should be here shortly, along with big brakes using 300ZX TT calipers. Who says us old guys can't have nice rides.

I'll be 47 in a month, have three children (one of which will be going off to college in another three years), our other car is a minivan (soon to be a new '04 Quest SL which will replace our 7 year old Grand Voyager- good to have another VQ in the family!), etc. I wanted something affordable, quick, comfortable for 4 passengers, and I prefer stealthy- The Maxima fit the bill. It's my mid life crisis car!
I'm 24...this is car #12 for me, all bought and paid for, by myself....parents never gave me isht except for a roof over my head and a (sometimes) warm dinner on my plate, glad for every penny i've worked for to be able to afford a car like this (the most expensive of the ones i've owned)....been out on my own since 19 working hard, have a house, max, bigscreen, pool table and biga$$ grill in my backyard and i earned every stinking penny of it myself and it feels wonderful....who wants a burger?
