Just recieved the OTTO FSTB from SouthWestAutoWorks~(Group Deal $50 shipped), Thanks Alex!
I went through the search function and noticed there might be clearence problem when the car is put in reverse since the engine supposely swing back and forth, and put some washers under neath the bolt will solve the problem. Now my question is.
1. how many of you have use washers? (Automatic or Manual?) I heard manual the engine is actually lower than in Auto? is that true?
2. If you used Washers, how many did you use?

Thanks, but I've already read this thread with the search function, I am actually more interested on knowing how many people w/ OTTO FSTB actually used washers with their FSTB and if they are manual or automatic.
And how many have no clearence problem.

I have an auto '03 and do have clearance problems. I might grind the bar down where it contacts the engine - I'm a bit uncomfortable with using washers because there isn't much room on the bolts.
This is really weird, some people have problem and some don't, maybe the FSTB was made differently?? I like to hear more from people.
P.S. I assume all you have install the FSTB on a flat surface w/o jacking up the front of the car right? (Some people do, saying it takes the load from the front chasis)

Apparently, the engine contacts the underside of the bar because I've discovered a series of scratches on the surface directly above the highest point of the intake.Originally Posted by Maxxxed
Ranger, what clearance problem? I have an 03 auto too and have the same bar and have no clearance issue...

Just installed mine this afternoon, looks like its a perfect fit w/o washers, I was worried for a sec that I need to run out and get some washers.
Everything was simple, and there's about 1mm gap between the manifold and the bar, clearence was NO PROBLEM. Just like Steve said.
I torqued the bolts to 36 pounds. I hope that about right.
