Looking for options for new grill

I need some help finding a new grill for my 2k Max. I like the looks of the CustomMaxima grills, but i heard they rust. Does anyone know of a nice looking grill that will hold up to the elements? Thanks in advance for any help u guys can give me.

You have the silver color right? They also list black color in their website.

PS: Where did you get the Nissan logo on the upper grill? Did you take it off from OEM grill?

Do you have any problem with the rust?

Go to the parts department and ask for the Xterra's emblem for the rear. That's the one Studman told me to get. Make sure the emblem is completely flat and that it's the big ones like we got and not the old small one's. Hope this helps.

The grille is made from aluminum. It won't rust. I've had mine installed for over a year now, and every time I was the car, it looks just as good as new.

1BADMAX is correct. Go to your local Nissan dealer and get the logo off the back door of the 2003 Nissan Xterra. It's the newer hamburger logo and is flat on the back side.

The JMS grille is flat in the middle of the grille so you can stick the logo on yourself. I've had no problems, even in Flordia rain, with the logo adhering to the grille.

Studman...I'm glad you posted in this thread. I also have the upper grill from JMS installed and my lower is waiting to be installed this weekend. Did you have any problems with fitment with the upper grill? Mine doesn't seem to be the right size, especially along the bottom. The entire bottom of the grill doesn't meet the bumper. And it's a bit short width wise too. Jay from JMS told me that I need to screw down the plastic pillar that runs behind the center of the grill. Did you have to do that?

i was woundering where to get a grill for my 01 maxima. it seems that the only one i can get is the speed grill from streetbeat customs. i think that this one makes the max look a little buck tooth

it looks like it may stick out a little but i am not sure. I am also skeptical of quality. to install it dont you use zip ties. I mean the do hold but how hard would it be to send some matching brackets with it. Also does it rust. I was thinkin about getting it powder coated black. what do you think

Oh ok. I will pay $600 for a bumper a paint job and a grill. sounds like the SMART thing to me. sure, great idea.
I think i will just stick with K pazzo's idea but what do all of you think about powder coating it black.

Has anyone seen the Mercedes style grill for the 5th gen Max? I came across it from someone here on the .org but can't seem to find it now. Basically the grill is chrome with no emblems. It has the horizontal slits like the Benz. It cost $75 if I remember correctly. I would like to see that on a Max. It might not look to bad if you don't mind biting off another car.

Nevermind, I found it, but I found out that it doesn't fit the Max, it only fits the Infiniti

still kind of a cool looking grill IMO.

I ordered this one. It is steel but powder coated so it should hold up to the elements. I didn't get mine yet but they say its easy to install. It's cheap so I don't really care as long as it looks good for a while.

Man that's a grille-tech, good luck with that. They've been saying that theirs are rust-proof for months now and yet org members have had theirs rust up after less than a week on the car!

Well like I said it is only $60 bucks so its no big deal. I did write someone else who bought one for their Max off of Ebay and they said it was fine with no rusting. I guess we will find out.

Just get it powder coated. It would still cost less than buying the other grill

Hey whats up man, thanks for the quick reply. I love how that grill looks on your car. I still havent decided whether the grill would look good on my white one though since I dont have any polished/chrome parts on the car.

Here is the response from the person I emailed. I hope what you say isn't true though. I have no reason not to believe this guy. Here is his comments.

I have both the upper and lower grills on my maxima with no sign of any
rust. I live in South Louisiana where it rains all the frickin' time
and I have had no problems. The only thing I didn't like was mounting them (kind of a pain with the tie straps they give you, especially on the lower grill), but besides that, I love them and the give a much smoother look to the front of my car.

Here is the link to the ebay Auction if you want to see how it looks. The come in silver and black.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ME:B:EOAB:US:6

I will post once I get it and have it on for a while.
