k & n air filter help

hey guys, faq isnt working for me and i need some help immediatley if its possible. I have a 2k3 SE and was thinking about getting a K&N filter. i have 12,900 miles on my car. I was talking to some dude at the dealership and he had a k&n in his max but someone told him it wasnt good for his car because it would screw up the computer or something. Is this true, should i put in a K&N? or should i just go get a stock filter from the parts shop at my dealer? Any help or suggestions would be great.

the 2k2 and 2k3 MAF sensors tend to blow easily, and having a K&N filter apparantly gives the dealer service guys an excuse why the MAF sensor blowing should be your fault... if you get one, be sure to switch it out to an OEM Nissan filter before taking it in, else they might complain about it
if you want to avoid the hassle, yeah get an OEM filter for it...

I've had a K&N filtercharger (drop in) for about a year and havent had a problem. I blew my MAF sensor BEFORE my K&N with a stock filter. Go figure.

Advice: have your serviced @ Infiniti like me. They tend not to BS you as much as Nissan Service Advisors.

Peace.

I had been running a K&N on my '02 since I got it and reoiled/cleaned it recently. I did not blow a MAF or anything of the sort because I did not use a lot of oil on the filter. I made sure I followed the recharge instructions to the letter to ensure that.

None of the dealers I work with hassled me about the filter at all. In fact, Kelly Nissan loved me for it.

When I get my '03, I plan to get a K&N as well.

BTW, I have had K&Ns since my '88 Caprice Classic.
