Low alternator voltage output??

I noticed yesterday with an analog voltmeter that my charging system voltage sits around 13.5-14V, not 14.0-14.5V like it should... I took the car to Advance Auto and had them hook up their battery/alternator tester (i.e. the one with 2 battery clamps and an inductive pickup they put around the alternator output wire), and it reported a regulator voltage of 13.89V and roughly 23A maximum output. WTF!???

I'm removing as many of those "hyperground" wires as I can, in case that's what's causing it... or at least remove the wires nearby the alternator.

Any ideas?

hmm interesting, alldatadiy.com's manual says:

ALTERNATOR OUTPUT
Rated output amps Test output @ 2500 eng. rpm
110 amps 85 amps 13.5volts

so I guess 13.5-14.0V is OK... (battery voltage is around 12.5 with lights on)

hmmm OK... I guess I won't worry about it for now--BTW, what's your battery voltage without the engine running? (mine's roughly 12.4-12.5)
I really should get a gauge pod and stick a voltmeter gauge in there for the hell of it...
