ME vs. WRX video!!! (work warning)

this is my 1st time at the track and my 1st run on the video. its me, 2k2 se auto stock vs. wrx 5 speed stock. i have my system in there and everything else is stock, tire pressure, etc. he has his spare tire out and thats it. i knew i could beat a wrx and this proves it. however, he is not a great driver in the wrx. i think there is a curse word or two in the video.

this is the second video with a friend in his car filming me race him. he missed third but it didnt matter. work warning also.

I've had a two similar experiences but never dared to post about it for fear of being flamed. Good job!

good job u smoked his ***! wrx only got the launch thats about it. lthey lose too much power at the wheels. one was dynoed by me and it only likle 160 + at the wheels(227 stock) . awd kills the power consumption.

I have yet to watch it (gonna DL now), but I'd assume that for you to beat a WRX his launch was crap, and that's about the easiest car to launch for a manual tranny. Rev it and just drop the clutch!

VERY nice job man, I'm thoroughly impressed. It is true that it looks like the WRX driver can't shift for sh*t, but you smoked him by so much even after a slow launch that I have confidence that I can hold my own against a stock WRX in my 2k1 Auto SE.

Good job man--what was your timeslip, if you know it?

I test drove a WRX a while back. I wasn't impressed. You have to really get on it to spool up the turbo. My fiance beat one with my old 95 M3. I do hear the Sti version is alot better.

on my 1st ever run(the video from outside both cars) our slips were.....

me- 60' 2.377 15.167@91.72 mph him-60'2.422 15.823@91.58

he ended up pulling a 14.85 but that was later on against another wrx. he never dropped the clutch he said cuz it messes up the tranny and they apparently have weak trannies.

on the other video(when he had a passenger)

me- 60' 2.309 15.006@92.51mph him-60' 2.319 15.508@89.08 mph

i was completely stock with a little more than 1/2 tank of gas and my system in there. tire pressure was normal. i wanted to see what i can run as if i were on the street. i was hoping for 14's but maybe next time. i kept in in 3 each race and never manually shifted. on my best run, 15.006 i revved to 1000rpm and eased into the gas with a little wheel hop and got my best time.

he ran a 14.85 but motor trend runs low 14's but they of course dont care how bad they abuse the tranny.

Told you guys those cars are over rated. I destroyed one on the highway and you beat one pretty bad on a not so good launch.

Nice job!

Although skeptical about the STi though....

The STi's are no joke, I ran against one with my 50 shot and he smoked me pretty badly. He still had the dealer tags on it also so I know that it was fairly new. I ran a 14.07 @ 102mph and he ran 12.87 @ 108mph it was amazing..

Looks like you got out of the hole real nice. Looked like a couple of clean passes too. The dude in the WRX must've been nervous or something cause I know a girl that drove a WRX with light mods (3" DP cat back & cai) and she was running 13.40's. She sold that for new 350Z Track edition. She also out drives her boyfriend in her 87 Buick Grand National running 12.10@115. Just a note the girl's tranny did start to go and they replaced it with out question along with the clutch under warr. Subaru didn't suspect this inocent looking girl was beating the hell out of this poor car at road courses and the drag strip. Her boyfriend would have to pull off the mods and Subaru fixed the car everytime. Sorry to ramble. Just thought I'd pass along the word that Subaru offers great service to their customers

eh, ill take the 15.006 and run with it. it was my 1st time ever, in humid florida on balding craptenza tires with 35 psi in them. if i lower my tire pressure im sure 14's are no problem. a 3.5 5 speed altima was running 14.85-15.1@93-94 mph so ill take my runs against that for being an auto.

Nice vids.
Everyone here says the WRX is overrated. C&D got 5.9 0-60 for WRX and something like 6.7 for 3.5. WRX SHOULD eat max alive off the line. It's true it has no top end. But it's a rally car. Apples vs Oranges IMO.

It is true however that most ppl who bought the wrx have no awareness that it is not a competitor when the wheels are pointed forward.
Just my two cents.

LOL aint that the truth! My friend's SRT-4 with intake jumped from 14.2 to 13.88 not to mention his brother's supra twin turbo, he was running 13.3's (modded) he just changed to that honey comb HKS intake and ran 13.0... why cant we get increases like that with NA haha ?!?!?!?!?!?

You couldn't be more wrong. If you rev the engine and drop the clutch really fast what will happen is the car will just feel like its about to die and then it will pick up. It took me about 5 tries to learn how to launch my friends WRX, and yes I know how to drive stick, I drove one for 5 years. The guy in the video did not know how to drive the WRX for ****, that car should easily jump on the max from dead stop. My first time at the track vs my friend's WRX I beat him the first two times and I was running 14.7-14.8 and once he got the hang of it he ran a 14.6 and 14.4. Those cars are no joke.
