Newbie in need of advice

I am totally new to all of this mod stuff. But I have the fever! Last night getting on the freeway I shifted from first at 6000RPM and from second at 6000RPM in my 2000 SE. I was totally surprised at the power that it put out at those RPMs. But it made me think. Can I make this car even faster??? So my question to all of the vet's that have been modding their maximas for a while now is - What can I do that is realitivly inexpensive and will not sacrafice MPG or reliability to make my car faster. Or what is my best first mod??

Welcome, fellow Arizonan. Your best bet is to read through the FAQs on this site. Another good place to look and learn more is www.stillen.com. Then buy your stuff from Southwest Auto Works (local)- www.southwestautoworks.com.

Intake, exhaust, Y pipe should be your first mods.....

since your car is a 2000 model ... the best gains for the buck would be... a COLD AIR INTAKE
and a Y-pipe
u would gain approximately 20-25 hp
www.custommaxima.com has everything u need...at a fair price

with a 2k model you also have the option of easily doing your own custom cold air intake...if you are cheap like me!! or a GAB (ghetto air box) - kind of a homemade warm air intake. do a search for "OSCAI" and "GAB" to find out more.

agreed on a y-pide and exhaust also!
