Just bought my Maxima
After a month of looking I bought my Maxima yesterday.
Y2K SE 5 speed with 43,000 miles. 17" wheels and leather. It's all stock, but I can fix that.
It's in great condition and a solid runner.
It's kind of a gold / silver color... what's the name for this?
After reading all the posts I thought I would start with FSTB, but after driving it home I'm thinking it's pretty good the way it is. Does it really make that much of a difference?

Congrats on the new ride As for the mods, I believe the consensus is that the rsb will get you the most improvement, whereas FSTB is nice, but the change isn't as drastic as rsb.

ssheltz-- Congrats! I got a 2K SE 5-speed too, they're great =)
First off, make sure the brake fluid is all new. If it's dirty or caramel-colored, get it flushed. This is one of the first things I need to do to mine (brakes got worked this past weekend at the DC-area BBQ, exposed some softness in the pedal)
Second, new tires are a must, if the tread on the existing ones is getting a little low (like mine ). If they're the factory Bridgestone Potenza RE92's, you might want to consider changing them with something else, if they don't have much tread... these tires are horrible for rain and winter weather. Check out the Tires & Wheels forum for selections.
I'm thinking of some suspension mods for mine, namely Subframe Connectors, FSTB, and new struts (Tokico Illuminas, when they come out) but keeping my stock springs... not too sure about the RSB, but it's low on my priority, pending some discussions I read about it (rubs brake hoses, might not make a difference, etc)

Congrats on your new ride!
Food for thought. I have been doing a lot of reading in regards to mods, both performance and appearance. The consensus (of more experienced members) seems to be pick one, either performance or appearance to start.
I was considering 2k2 chrome tails, clear corners, tint, intake, y-pipe, catback, suspension.
The response was overwhelming, not to go with the 2k2 tails, and for performance, go with the RSB, most bang for the buck (granted I have GLE, not SE). Most I have read say with FTSB, they notice very little performance enhancement.
Based on these responses, I would go RSB first...pending your budget.

What was the reasoning for the 'overwhelming response' not to get the 2k2 tails? Just curious.
