2002 Acura TL-S
#1
I hope Nissan does in fact make the SE-R. With the 2002 TL-S kicking out 260hp, Nissan will have to step up. I think if the Maxima does use the 3.5 it will be more powerful than the Acura from the gain in torque. TL-S has I think 232ftlbs, I sure hope the 3.5 Max will have more torque. What does everyone think of the TL-S, I think it is a great car but would never turn on Nissan.

It still is yet to be known how this thing will perform. I've never driven the Honda sportshift. Any takers? The 4-speed auto is poor in my opinion. This car is just a pumped up 6th gen Accord. I think the CL/TL are still on that platform, right? I have a 6th gen Accord Coupe with the 3.0L...and it doesn't touch the Nissan 3.0L.
The Maxima is still meaner looking and lighter, so Nissan might not have to do anything to keep in the game...but if they do put the 3.5L in the Max...that Acura won't stand a chance. I question whether it will stand a chance against the current 3.0.

TL-S
2002 TL Type S vs. 2001 TL:
-64mm larger throttle valve
-lower air filter & duct flow resistant
-50% increased air flow
-dual-stage intake manifold w/ integral velocity stacks
-butterfly valve separates the front and rear cylinder banks at low speeds to take advantage of resonance charging
-intake valves of a high-flow variant w/ extra lip
-higher cylinder pressures = thin-wall spin-cast cylinder liners
-10.5:1 compression ratio
-larger exhaust pipe
-dual high-flow mufflers
-low-restriction catalytic converter
-6900 rpm redline
-increased second-gear clutch-holding ability
-modified torque converter
-higer-rate springs
-firmer shock valving
-bigger anti-roll bars
-215/50VR-17s
-17" wheels
-new grille
-new headlights
-new hood
-new bumpers
-perforated leather
-metallic instruments
-leather steering wheel
-torque sensitive power steering
-$3500 more
0-60- 6.9 seconds
1/4 mile- 15.1 @ 94
Top speed- 145 mph

It's a 5sp auto

The TL has the 3.2L

Auto vs. Auto... the TL-S will smoke the max... TL-S vs. 5sp Max. pretty close.
